Fostering for Second Chance Pet Network
Foster Parent Application (click here for Forms)
If you would like more information about fostering, please contact our Foster Home Coordinator, Yvette Burns at
[email protected] or through our Facebook Page.
Thank you for your interest in becoming a Second Chance Pet Network foster parent volunteer!
Fostering a resident of Second Chance Pet Network, allows the resident to live in a home environment, get spoiled and loved and cared for on an individual level, and gives the “fosterer” a chance to see if they might be interested in that particular resident for adoption and if the resident is a good fit in the home and with the humans who are fostering it. If you are already a dog or cat lover, then why not give fostering a try? Basic daily cost for the upkeep of the foster, as well as veterinary care when needed is covered by Second Chance Pet Network when you take a resident into your home and your heart. Many people have found their purr-fect pet by fostering for a period of time. Fostering also helps to take the stress off the shelter.
Our greatest foster needs at this time are homes for older puppies and adult dogs.
Fostering is flexible enough for most lifestyles and SCPN will custom-match the animals to each foster home. By offering your time, energy and home to an animal in need, you prepare the animal for adoption into a permanent home as well as help prevent overcrowding in our shelter. SCPN is always looking for more foster homes, especially throughout the busy spring and summer seasons.
Most common reasons animals require foster care:
SCPN provides: all veterinary care and medicine for foster animals, pet supplies such as food, cat litter plus plenty of support to foster parent volunteers.

SCPN is always looking for more foster homes, especially throughout the busy spring and summer seasons.
Most common reasons animals require foster care:
- Puppies or dogs (We don't want them spending too much time in the shelter.)
- Cats or dogs who are nursing a litter of kittens or puppies. Although the shelter is a safe environment, it is not the best for raising babies.
- Cats or dogs who are being treated for injuries or illnesses.
SCPN provides: all veterinary care and medicine for foster animals, pet supplies such as food, cat litter plus plenty of support to foster parent volunteers.
How foster care works
- When SCPN is contacted about a dog or puppy who needs to be rescued or surrendered, we contact foster parent volunteers. Some foster parents prefer to deal only with puppies while others would prefer to handle older dogs. If you are not available to foster at that time, we simply try another person. There will be plenty of other opportunities to foster, so there is no pressure to take an animal.
- Foster parents may need to bring the animal to SPCN periodically to be examined by our veterinarian, receive vaccinations or other treatment.
- SCPN will complete final steps necessary to prepare the animal for adoption.
